Exhibitions /TIME - The mechanical time
This hall explores the concept of mechanical time which at the end of the Middle Ages gradually broke up the strict bond that joined time to the stars.
The visit starts from a large pendulum, a simple device with extraordinary properties that formed the heart of the mechanical clock until the early decades of the 1900s.
Some interactive machines illustrate the mechanical laws governing the pendulum clock and the subsequent evolution in the balance wheel clock.
Galileo Galilei
An entire section is dedicated to the theme of longitude at sea, decisive in the improvement of the mechanical balance clock introducing the time measurement in all areas of civil life.
